Having built Wyoming Plant Company's first site, and then handing it over to a company partner not familiar with accepted website standards, it was time to take the site back and bring it into the modern age. It took some extensive work to catalog all the plants that were recommended by the owner for the xeric Rocky Mountain steppe that abounds in central Wyoming: acquiring adequate photos alone was extremely time intensive.
Mail order was not offered, but a "pre-order" system was installed so that local customers could choose their plants and have the owner get them in to the store for them. The WooCommerce plugin worked beautifully for this, along with the Canvas theme by WooThemes.
It was eventually decided to not allow pre-orders any longer, but to keep the value of the database of plants, a wish list plugin, Yith Wishlist, was installed. Customers can keep track of the plants they like, and print or email the owner with their list to see if he can get the plants in stock.
The search capability was enhanced by Relevanssi and Search Autocomplete plugins. WooSidebars was a godsend for keeping track of a myriad of sidebars with useful and interesting information; WordPress SEO by Yoast, Youtube Channel Gallery for videos, and Simple Tooltips were also part of the plugin collection.
